7-Zip is open source software. Most source code is under GNU LGPL license. The UnRAR code is under a combined license: GNU LGPL + unRAR Restrictions.

You can use 7-Zip on any computer, including business entity computers. You do not need to register or pay for 7-Zip.

What's new:

7-Zip can now capture VHDX disk images (Microsoft Hyper-V Virtual Hard Disk v2 format).
New switches: -spm and -im! {File_path à°®ిà°¨ Exclude directories from processing specific paths that do not contain the path separator character at the end of the path.
In the "Add to Archive" window, it is now permissible to use the -m prefix for the "parameters" field, as in the command line: -mparam.
In some cases where the directory name is a prefix of another directory or file name, the sorting order of the files in the archives has been slightly changed to make it more consistent.
TAR archives created by 7-Zip are now more compatible with archives created by the GNU TAR program.
